KAAL SARP YOG

Defination : According to vedic astrology in any horoscope If all the seven planets are situated between Rahu and Ketu then Kaal Sarp Yog is formed. Having kaal sarp yoga in horoscope doesn't mean that person will be totally unlucky and devoid of all the good things of life. The overall results differs from person to person and it depends on other yogas in the particular horoscope

Partial Kaal Sarp Yog: If in horoscope all 7 planets are between Rahu and Ketu but partially few planets are outside the axis of Rahu and Ketu then Partial Kaal Sarp Yog is formed. If only one planet is outside the axis of Rahu and Ketu then also Partial Kaal Sarp Yog is formed. It won’t effect much.

According to the situation of Rahu (Dragen Head) in 12 houses of horoscope there are Kaal Sarp Yogas of 12 types. These are below

Type of Kaal Sarp Yog Defination
Anant Rahu is in the first House and Ketu in the seventh house and the rest of the planets are left to this axis then Anant Kaalsarpa Yoga is formed
Kulik When Rahu is placed in the second and Ketu in the eighth house and all the planets lie in between in the natal horoscope then it is called ‘Kulik’ Kaalsarp Yog
Vasuki When Rahu is placed in the third and Ketu in the ninth house and all other planets lay in between these two then it is called ‘Vasuki’ Kaalsarp Yog. 
Vasuki When rahu occupies the 4th house and Ketu the 10th this yoga is Formed
Padma When rahu occupies the fifth house and Ketu the eleventh house this Yoga is formed
Mahapadma This yoga is formed when rahu is in the 6th house and Ketu is in the twelfth house
Takshak When rahu is in the seventh house and Ketu in the first house this yoga is formed
Karkotak When rahu occupies the eighth house and Ketu the second house this yoga is formed
Shankhchud When rahu occupies the ninth house and Ketu is in the 3rd house this yoga operates
Ghaatak This yoga arises when rahu is in tenth house and ketu in the fourth house
Vishdhar When rahu occupies the eleventh house and ketu the fifth house
Sheshnag When Rahu occupies the twelfth house and ketu the 6th house

  1. The Kaal Sarp Yog is of two types- Ascending and Descending. If all the 7 planets are eaten away by Rahu's mouth then it is Ascending Kaal Sarp Yog. If all planets are situated in back of Rahu then Descending Kaal Sarp Yog is formed.
